YOKOTA TOKYO's predecessors, Shigeru Yokota Gallery and Tokyo Publishing House, continuously introduced the entire body of work of each artist through exhibitions and publications. In this process, we have come to face not only the artworks, but also the first-hand materials of the period in which the works were created. Dealing with these documents and ephemera led us to expand our activities into a sphere of "art archive". The act of archiving has a very different meaning depending on one's position and perspective. We, as a gallery, are constructing the archive of materials about the artists and of the documents that convey the milieu.
On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of Shigeru Yokota Gallery, we published the books that come in four installments, summarizing our activities in May 2022.
